History
Kazuya spent most of the earlier years of his life in an American orphanage with his twin brother, after his Japanese mother passed away. The two were close in their own way, living in their own little world most of the time. They would often whisper to one another in Japanese, so that they could talk about anything they wanted without people understanding. A couple from England came to the orphanage to adopt them, giving them English names. Oliver - Kazuya - and Eugene Davis' lives were changed forever.

Their new mother learned Japanese, so she could enter the world they lived in. It turned out that the twins were psychic, and the Davis couple were psychic researchers, professors, and chairman in the Society of Psychic Research - SPR. Oliver carried a great deal of potential power in both psychokinetics - PK - and extra sensory projection - ESP - that had only been kept in balance thanks to his brother's own ESP and their psychic link. Considering that the boy was able to create massive poltergeists whenever their balance wavered, it was no surprise how much it wore out Oliver's body. To avoid the breakdown, Oliver would send a small amount of energy to Eugene, who would send it back, and the two would repeat the cycle until Oliver had enough energy to perform the task he wanted. Still, their father felt Oliver should receive formal training on how to control his powers on his own. Prof. Davis hired an onmiyoji from Hong Kong, named Koujo Lin, to teach Oliver qigong. The man was quite short with both boys for a time, as he held a great deal of resentment for Japan do to the history between China and Japan, but after some words of wisdom from Eugene and blunt honestly from Oliver, the three actually grew close.

Oliver grew as a researcher from a young age, learning from his parents. He was awarded an honorary doctrine for his work, but he decided to see out a legitimate one as well. He even published a book, objectively approaching psychic research as a science first and foremost. Using his own psychic powers, he made quite a name for himself around the world from his demonstrations. Eugene was not unproductive either, developing his medium powers and skills as an exorcist. Oliver believed Eugene was a true medium, as he was able to channel a spirit and speak in their native language fluently, whether he knew it or not. This example became a basis for Oliver's judgment of mediums in his research. As serious as Oliver took his work, Eugene would often tease him for it, much to Oliver's jargon. The two remained close in their own way as always. Eugene would call Oliver 'Noll', and in turn, Eugene's name was shortened to 'Gene'. Although to outsiders, Oliver seemed to be far less comfortable than Eugene in their relationship.

When the twins were about sixteen, Eugene traveled to Japan to study Shinto in his study of exorcisms. Oliver remained in England to further his work. It was their first, real time apart. When Oliver decided to borrow some of Eugene's clothes, he received a psychometric vision of his brother, dying. Once he returned to his senses, Oliver immediately made preparations to leave for Japan with Lin to find his brother, shocking those who knew him. Arriving in Tokyo, he opened Shibuya Psychic Research, taking on his birth name to conceal his identity, to investigate paranormal activity in hopes of finding Eugene through any investigations he came across...

Personality
Kazuya is a cold, narcissistic, quiet, prideful individual. Every action he makes has been carefully analyzed beforehand. It is nearly impossible to understand what he is thinking, for he hardly ever shows emotion, even in his eyes. Though his objectivity seems thoughtless, he actually cares a great deal for the people he lets into his life. It is due to the life he has led up to this point that his persona is so deeply rooted...

As a small child, with overwhelming psychic power, the only person that Kazuya could depend on was his twin brother. It didn't help that they were Japanese-American, but they had little memory of their family before the orphanage. All Kazuya had left of his heritage was his name and secondary language. He was well aware of the devastating influence he held over the world, and he closed himself up because of it. He never wanted to frighten people, but with the weight on his little shoulders, it took a toll on him. He hardly smiled, carrying the burden of his gifts seemingly alone. However, his little brother was always there with a smile to try cheering him up.

When the Davis' family adopted them, for the first time, Kazuya didn't feel like such a dangerous person. His father and mother praised his brother and his own talents, giving him a sense of pride he had not known before. He soaked up everything he could about psychic research, wanting to understand what he had been born with. With all the knowledge he accrued, he became quite confidant in himself. He never let people talk down to him, even adults. He knew what he was saying; otherwise, how could he know himself? He refused to allow anyone to let him question himself again. Being given his new name was like a new start, a new life he could lead without the burdens he had once carried. In fact, he became very conscious of himself to the point of trying to impress himself, a well developed narcissistic complex. With his brother at his side, he knew they could accomplish anything they wanted to do. Even if his twin teased him relentlessly for wasting his youth, he believed that they would always be together... until the day he felt his life line torn away from him.

Without Eugene, Kazuya felt himself pulling further inward than he ever had. The experience from his vision had not helped. Knowing how Eugene had met his end made him both angry and depressed. All the goals he had set for himself meant nothing. He had to find Eugene to find his closure, but he knew that he would never be the same without his other half. His powers were a burden to him, once again, stripping him of his gained independence. It was a difficult pill to swallow, but his pride forced him to. Living on his own in Tokyo, he tried to build himself up again, so he could stand on his own. He didn't want to feel the pain he had suffered when he lost Eugene ever again, but that desire only tore a rift between him and the people he cared for. He damaged relationships without intending to, and with the fear of loss still holding him, he only had strength to try mending a few. Those that remained proved to him to be people he quite possibly could rely on, should he ever find himself able to do so again...

Powers
Kazuya was born with immense psychic potential, and in his seventeen years, he has learned to control them well. Although, it has been stated that he has not reached the cap of his true potential. He possesses strong psychometric power, allowing him to see events happening or that have happened to a person by touching a personal possession of theirs. He had used this gift to locate missing people, as noted by a diplomat's son that had been buried alive and Masako Hara when she was pulled through matter to a place they could not find. Masako claimed that he had told her help was coming for her, but it is still unclear whether this was Kazuya or his brother.

Kazuya also possesses strong Psychokinetic powers over static and moving targets. As Oliver Davis, he gave a presentation of his ability to move a 50 kilogram aluminum block into a brick wall using PK-ST, and in the series, he tries to distract Mai from her nerves by playing with a 500 yen coin, moving it in mid air with PK-MT. She believed it to be magic. As a child, he was able to create massive poltergeists without proper control, after training in the art of qigong, he was able to channel that energy into physical form, which has shown the potential to destroy a 'god'.

Unfortunately, his twin brother was the balance that held all of these powers from destroying Kazuya from the inside out. Upon his death, he would suffer spells of fainting that left him in the hospital, and in extreme cases, he has suffered heart failure. His companion and friend Lin has said that no one person was meant to possess all he does. Luckily for Kazuya, he is a proficient and clever researcher in his field of Paranormal Phenomena. He received an honorary doctrine for his research alone, and he published a book, addressing the field, its complexity, and the necessity to treat it as a science first and foremost to express the respect it deserves. He is skilled in operating surveillance equipment, such as various cameras, microphones, and related computer software, and when the internet search fails, he has the patience to hit the books and research the old fashion way.
