A brief background on Kazuya “Naru” Shibuya:
Kazuya is hardly whom he appears to be. Kazuya was his birth name. His legal name is Dr. Oliver Davis, a world renowned researcher of Parapsychology in London, England. His greatest work specializes in psychic phenomena, which he gave private demonstrations of his own abilities the world over. While his psychokinesis was acknowledged, he was most widely known for his psychometry. Hundreds to thousands of letters would come to him to find lost loved ones. Fortunately, he was able to remain in an objective frame of mind, which is best when you have to deliver bad news. The aggressive degree program he participated in at the Londenberg Foundation in his early teens was awarded to the most accomplished researcher along with a university lector position. He earned it with his thesis that was further published, Supernatural Systems, which presented in its preface that the legitimacy of parapsychology must be proven through research before it can be properly acknowledged by the world. Yes, he was doing all of this before the age of sixteen. I haven’t pinpointed the age he earned his honorary doctorate... yet. However, at the age of sixteen, he left London suddenly without a word, leaving the public eye behind.
With that being said, please read over the material below and fill out the questionnaire. Thank you!
Naru the parapsychological researcher
Kazuya dedicates himself to researching everything the field of parapsychology could touch, seeing himself as a pioneer in its research. This includes the study of extra sensory projection, psychokinesis, near-death experience, life-after-death and reincarnation study, apparitional experiences, religious practices and beliefs, as well as many other topics in correlation to paranormal phenomena. This means that he has studied many subjects to find scientific explanation to logically build a foundation for his work. Some areas he has dabbled in include human studies such as sociology, theology, mythology, the occult, astrology, psychology, biology, anthropology and history, earth studies such as geology, physics, chemistry, meteorology, and astronomy, and even medicine, both modern and past. This allows him to look at as many angles as possible to a problem to formulate a solution to best remedy the situation. He is constantly expanding his knowledge by reads transcripts, books, and lectures from around the world to increase his understanding. He studied ghost hunting under Modoka Mori, learning the trade in its technical and practical methods. He uses all of this in his work at Shibuya Psychic Research, an investigation agency that takes paranormal or psychic phenomena cases around Japan.
How does this apply to Somarium? Kazuya’s knowledge could make him very familiar with characters with roots in mythology, the occult, history, or the supernatural. Psychic phenomena is by definition his passion, making him familiar with those that possesses powers - psychic or otherwise. With resources available to him in Hypnosia, he can also research and dig up answers that others might not possess the patience to find. I am limiting Kazuya to the knowledge from his world and what he can find on his own, via library or the network, on what he can find out without other means. If you play someone that could possibly be documented, and that includes obscure documentation, or possess abilities rooted in some kind of force of will, which includes psychics, magic users, or others with powers that come from strength of will or spirit, Kazuya might be a bit compromising for you. In your comment to this entry, please add anything you are not comfortable with Kazuya calling you out on.
Naru the psychic, qigong expert
Since Kazuya was a small child, his psychic ability was more than one human being should have. Perhaps this was due to the fact that he was born a twin, and his older brother was also a strong psychic. Kazuya would often create massive poltergeists, imagine Jean Grey’s unsuppressed telekinesis from X-Men III. This was due to emotional imbalance and lack understanding of what was happening. Upon his adoption, his new parents found him the help he needed in order to control his overwhelming power. Upon better understand and training, Kazuya and his brother were able to telepathically bounce energy between one another so that Kazuya would not be overwhelmed and lose control. He has many abilities, and it is implied that he could have developed even more if his brother were still able to counterbalance him. Lin Koujo has said of Kazuya, “Naru is an extremely strong-willed person with great self-control... If we fought to the death, he would utterly defeat me.” Lin is a Taoist sorcerer, by the way. Fortunately for Somarium, most of these can only be used in dreamfields. If he were to use them in waking hours, it would cause his heart to stop and kill him.
Telepathy: While he lost most of this ability when Eugene died, he still has some defense over his own mind. He is not easily influenced by outside source. The only individuals to actually overpower his mind were a god, even then it had to physically force itself inside his body, and the spirit of a desperate teacher, trying to save his young students. He does not reach into others’ minds, but he has a way of reading people. Whether this is actually reading, intuition, or nothing more than a hunch remains to be seen. For game purposes, he’s the kind of guy that reads a person’s eyes... which leads into a much stronger power he possesses that he relies on for more precise answers.
Psychometry: Many do not know this power by this name, but it is the ability to see visions of the past, current moment, or future, although Kazuya has never stated being able to see the future before. He uses this ability through holding or at least touching some personal belonging to someone. This can be something done on purpose, as one might try to locate someone or discover something from the past. It can also be quite random, as when he experienced his brother’s death. For game purposes, I will ask before trying to have him use it on purpose, or something can be planned out for it to happen by chance. Accidental occurrences are usually for vital visions. If you want future visions to be seen, contact me about it, since it is a part of psychometry.
Qigong and psychokinesis: In an explanation for Lin Koujo, “Everyone releases chi... Usually it is just released and you don’t use if for anything. Qigong is increasing that chi and controlling it for it certain purpose. Just like in sports, you can use it if you train. But in Naru’s case, its far superior to that... As a means for him to control his chi, I taught him qigong. So it is similar to normal qigong, but his level of chi is much higher... Naru’s powers are too intense for a human to handle. That is why his body can’t keep up.” Qigong is a martial arts technique of chi manipulation. Ayako Matsuzaki referred to it as using “spiritual energy without the rituals”. Kazuya’s brother, Eugene, was able to bounce energy back and forth with him over a telepathic ‘hot-link’, so that the chi would not overwhelm Kazuya’s body. After his death, this was no longer possible, so he is not supposed to use his psychokinesis or qigong. However, there are instances where he will use it to save someone in dire situations, or he let’s his pride get the better of him...
In game, Kazuya can use his qigong and PK in dreamfields through dream energy manipulation. Although, the chance of him being forced to use these powers in waking hours is open for possibilities. With his psychokinesis, he has influence moving and static targets with his mind. All he needs to do is focus on his target, which is an involved, mental exercise. Again, I refer to Jean Grey from X-Men as a reference. His qigong, however, is a specified attack that can only harm what he wills to be harmed. Again, this is a focused attack and requires concentration to be preformed. Something to note about his qigong is that the chi Kazuya gives off thickens into an electrically charged atmosphere around him, and it doesn't let up until he releases the energy. He does need to build it up again.
Now that the boring information is over with, onto the questionnaire! Thank you very much for reading over all this information.
1] Would Naru have prior knowledge of your character(s)? If yes, is there anything you would rather he not know before interacting with them?
2] As far as psychometry goes, are you opposed Naru using this on your character(s)?
3] Should Naru clash with your character(s) in a fight, how strong of an effect would he over them with his psychokinesis and qigong?
Further notes you would like to add?

First she is of the Mononobe clan, which was a clan that was around during the late Kofun period early Asuka period which was during the 6th century. They are best known for having been fierce defenders of Shintoism during the religious war against Buddhism. (Their leader Moriya burned several Buddhist Temples.) They are most affiliated with the Isonokami Shrine and Futusu no Mitama. (Futo's name is written with the same kanji as Futsu in Futsu no Mitama.) They claim to be descended from the god Nigihayahi no Mikoto who descended to earth on a rock boat (Futo has this same boat.)
The Mononobe clan fought against the Soga clan who defended Buddhism, most of this was for political reasons. The Mononobe tried to remove Prince Shoutoku (Who was connected to the Soga can) and instate their own prince but failed. In the end Prince Shoutoku and the Soga spread Buddhism through Japan. In historical notes Moriya is mentioned, leader of the Mononobe, and his sister Futsuhime who was married to Soga no Umako and said to have mothered Tojiko no Iratsume who was consort of Prince Shoutoku. (Futo's name is also written the same as Futsuhime and it is safe to assume she is the same.)
This is what historical knowledge would let him know. (Things are a little different in her accounts however.) So he's free to know as much as you want him to.
As for Futo herself, she has a lot of powers. She claims to practice "Feng Shui" as a Taoist, but really she uses Shinto magic with Taoist dressings. So a bit of a mix of both. (Sort of like Onmyoudo.) Her methods are a hodgepodge of disciplines and things she's made up though. The roots would be simple to recognize however. She is also a Shikaisen, which is a hermit who gains immortality through first killing themselves and cheating death.
Her spiritual strength is great and there is a "divinity" about her, mostly due to having the blood of a god. As for a fight, she could probably counter most his techniques as she's familiar with those methods. But I don't know how even or not even they would be against each other.
He's free to use anything on her.

There is one thing I would like to ask though. As far as psychometry goes, would you prefer I not use this on her? He would probably only use it to make sure she isn't a problem for him. I would ask what he can and cannot see of course.

He can see anything that would be reasonable for the skill. Most of her past is just an alternate form of history. (History having ended up a little different due to the distortion of time.) For example Prince Shoutoku, an important figure who spread Buddhism throughout Japan and created a lot of the foundations of the government was really a woman in her past. (Still a prince though.) And instead was using Buddhims for political reasons and was a follower of Taoism. The Monobnobe clan fell to the Soga due to Futo's manipulations under the guide of Shoutoku (who is Miko in game here.) and the Soga fared badly also due to Futo's manipulations. She also caused a fellow ally to die. (Who is in game and is Tojiko) due to messing with a resurrection ritual.
That's sort of, a lot of word dump.... But yeah I don't mind what he can see and can give details whenever needed or wanted.
